高橋亮子

今日、突然、高橋亮子作のコミックブック(特に「坂道のぼれ」と｢水平線をめざせ」）を思い出した。今思うと、彼女のコミックブックが私を成長させてくれたように思う。彼女の漫画ほど思春期の私の心を打ったものはない。

日本の漫画やコミックブックは本当にスゴイ！音楽や小説を超えたスゴイ感動を私たちに与えてくれる。日本人としての私たちの想像の世界は、島国ならではの極限そして無限の中にいる。それを形にして表現できるのということは、本当にスゴイと思う。

ところで、私の親愛なる高橋亮子氏は、まだコミックブックを描いているのでしょうか？彼女の作品は、100回以上読んだ気がする。でもまた読みかえしたい。芸術作品は時期により感じ方が違うと思う。今一度、彼女の作品を鑑賞してみたい。

10/21: JT's Café Opening Party & Art Reception

I thought that Indian summer had finally arrived but this morning I was enveloped by San Francisco's famous fog. San Francisco has such an interesting climate. Sometimes I feel that I can experience all four seasons in a single day!

...here is a great news! A good friend of mine just opened a very unique café in San Francisco. They're committed to help promote local talent in the SF Bay Area. I was fortunate to be a part of this special art show as an artist as well as a curator for their grand opening.

What's "luck"?

Time flies and things change without giving us any advance notices. Apparently, some people are lucky and the others are not. Can we control our "luck" for a better change in life?

I've been thinking about what "luck" means. "Luck" seems to be set as "fate" but I think that it can be calculated in our own ways, by knowing that sucessfull people tend to know good timing in life: be in the right place at the right time.

But unfortunately we cannot calculate everything in life because there is always our "emotion" involved and if we're sensitive, we get confused at times and our priorities change. I think some ”brief detours” are not bad. We see new things and accept different ideas. It's all important because it's a part of deepening our humanity.

"Luck" may be carefully calculated for "timing" but actually, good luck or bad luck sometimes just happens accidentally. It may be something to do with natural forces. It may be related to our subconsciousness. We have a lot to think about this subject...
